In an incredibly rare move, Bandai Namco will be releasing the upcoming Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers fully localized into English for Asian markets later this year.

To understand why this is really quite surprising, you need to go back lớn the roots of where Super Robot Wars started.
Back in 1991, Banpresto released a then new GameBoy game that was the ultimate mecha crossover. Classic anime series such as Mazinger Z, Getter Robo and Mobile Suit Gundam pooled their respective mecha và allowed players khổng lồ use them on the field of battle.
As this was a GameBoy game, the battle in question was handled in a turn-based manner và what resulted was a cogent strategy trò chơi that unified decades of mecha anime pop-culture.
In the years since the series has had numerous iterations và often within each of these were chất lượng mecha created for that game. Not from any anime series, they were purely part of that game to help with linking all the disparate narratives from the various anime series together.
Eventually these mecha became part of the Original Generation, or OG series, that was unique to Super Robot Wars.
It wasn’t long until there were enough OG mecha lớn create standalone spin-offs and, as you can probably imagine, there are quite a lot of those by now. Not lớn mention various successful OG themed anime series as well.

The reason why the OG mecha are special is that unlike the other anime related series; they are chất lượng to Super Robot Wars. This means from a licensing point of view, Bandai Namco is able to giảm giá khuyến mãi with the worldwide rights without having to worry about what anime series they are from.
In the past we’ve had a few of the OG games released in the West, a few on the GameBoy Advance và one semi-spin-off on the Nintendo DS. However, Atlus handled all of those.
As this year is the 25th Anniversary for Super Robot Wars, it seems that Bandai Namco will finally step up & give the latest OG game, Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers, a fully localized release in Asia.
As the the trò chơi is coming out on the PS4 & PS3, both of which are region free, that means you can finally pick up a modern Super Robot Wars trò chơi without having to lớn worry about the language barrier.
The potentially even better news is that this Asian announcement likely preempts a Western version as well. This is because Gundam Extreme Versus Force on Vita was given a similar Asian release localized in English, only khổng lồ be followed by the news of a full Western release. So if Bandai Namco are going lớn all the effort lớn localize the game for Asia, it’s likely this will also come Westward too.
While a specific release date is currently unknown, the trò chơi is scheduled lớn come out sometime this year. Not only is it retaining the classic 2d art and animation (as you can see in the trailer below) but this will also be the first trò chơi in the series to lớn be released on PS4.
